We held a democratic election to select our Student Council members!
Democracy is so important to us in Powerstown E.T.N.S. so we knew it was important to use the democratic process to elect our class representatives. Here is how we ran our election:
- To get elected to Student Council we had to do a lot of work and preparation.
- We organised an election campaign.
- We made posters with our pictures and slogans.
- We wrote speeches.
- We held a campaign meeting during assembly and we did our speeches for everyone.
- We then held a secret ballot - Every person in the school was given a voting card (Junior infants pupils were given a cube to place on the photo of the people they were voting for). Every boy and girl picked the people they wanted from each class to be on the Student Council.
Here are some of the photos from our election campaigns this year!
